50 FAVOURITE CHARACTERS (IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER) - LAVENDER BROWN.
‘Lavender was saddened when Professor Trelawney was temporarily sacked by Umbridge after her inspection, and even brought her some nice daffodils, though she continued to take the class under the centaur Firenze, upon whom both she and Parvati had a crush on, despite him being half-man and half-horse.’ 

why lavender? well, besides the fact that i ship her and seamus together like crazy, because she is presented as a normal, rather typical teenage girl all throughout the books series (and in the film, i suppose too) and who is simply a sweet girl, albeit with a tendency to be gullible, who has strong feelings and in the end suffers a terrible fate (though, in the books J.K actually said that she didn’t die, rather she was just, yknow, scarred a lot from being bloody massacred half to death). she has a boyfriend who she snogs and obsesses over and who she buys awful jewellery for, she has lots of friends who she giggles with and appears shallow and girlish. yet, in a time of terrible circumstances, she proves herself to be brave. she joins dumbledore’s army and fights for a cause, learns to defend herself at risk of expulsion and everything that all of the other characters faced. she returned for her seventh and final year at  hogwarts, despite the dangers that returning to school held and she fights in the battle of hogwarts like a true gryffindor, showing herself to be just as brave as everyone else. she proves herself, she shows that even such a ‘normal’ teenage girl like herself, who’s prior problems were simply the (though it’s unfortunate) death of her rabbit and divination class and school dances, can be brave and loyal and she fought until the very end. that’s why i like lavender. she’s one of the only true innocent characters in the series, one which would’ve probably led a happy, commonplace life had the war never happened.
